Ms. Meshia Clarke
Meshia Clarke is the ESG, Gender and Project Communications Lead with HDF Caribbean, a subsidiary
of HDF Energy, a leading global player in the hydrogen industry. Meshia is responsible for the
company’s environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) regulations and procedures, while
also taking the lead in promoting gender mainstreaming and project communication activities across
the portfolio of projects for the Caribbean region.
As a seasoned development practitioner, she most recently served in the capacities of Technical
Specialist Gender Equality with the United Nations Development Program at the Multi-Country Office
for Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean; and as the Capacity Development Expert with the German
Development Agency GIZ working on energy and climate change and disaster risk reduction projects
with both organizations. Meshia was also the former Executive Director of the Barbados Renewable
Energy Association (BREA), the country’s sole non-governmental organization with a mandate to
promote the renewable energy and energy efficiency sectors of Barbados.
In her tenure as Executive Director with the Association she would have provided strategic leadership support which led to the introduction of feed-in-tariff rates for the renewable energy sector, spear – headed the regional capacity building programme in the Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certification unlocking development funding support in doing so, coordinated several national education and awareness raising sessions and lobbied government for the adoption 100% renewable energy and energy efficiency agenda. She currently serves on the BREA Board of Directors as the Vice-President for the Association for the current term 2024-2025.
She is currently pursuing her second Masters Degree in Gender and Development Studies while holding a Master of Science Degree in International Trade Policy with (Distinction) and a Bachelor of Arts Degree with (First Class Honours) both from the University of the West Indies Cave Hill Campus, as well as Certificate in NGO Management from the University of the West Indies- Open Campus and the Project Management Associate Certificate (PM4R) from the Inter-American Development Bank as well as the Certified Knowledge Manager certification from the Knowledge Management Institute
