Dr. Benedict Henry
Dr. Benedict Henry hopes to bring practical sector knowledge and high-level governance experience to BREA’s board. He is a director of a Barbadian-owned independent power producer (IPP), which provides him with direct insight into the challenges and commercial realities of renewable energy development in Barbados.
Aside from his sector role, he is an experienced company director with a long history in corporate governance and negotiation. His professional work frequently involves direct collaboration with both local and national government bodies, which seek his advice on legislation and risk management.
He aims to advocate effectively for BREA’s members, both large and small, and is dedicated to helping them achieve their goals as Barbados transitions towards a clean, resilient, and inclusive energy future.
Regulatory Committee which he first joined in 2021. Through those experiences, Andrew has gained an extensive understanding of the commercial and regulatory aspects of the Barbados renewable energy market.
Prior to joining Blue Circle Energy, Andrew practiced law in Canada for 15 years as a corporate and commercial lawyer with a focus on renewable energy. As a partner in the Toronto office of DLA Piper, a large global law firm, he worked on several hundred megawatts of solar, wind, biomass and battery energy storage projects. He helped ensure that all of those projects were successful and in the public interest. He obtained both his law degree (2007) and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (1999) from Queen’s University in Canada.
