Andrew Lord BREA Biography

Mr. Andrew Lord

Mr. Andrew Lord offers a multi-disciplinary perspective to BREA to help ensure that Barbados succeeds in its goals of transitioning to 100% renewables while democratizing the energy sector. He is currently part of the management team of Blue Circle Energy, a longstanding BREA member. Blue Circle Energy has been developing projects in Barbados since 2020 and has experience in several neighbouring Caribbean islands, Canada and the US. Andrew has chaired BREA’s Regulatory Committee which he first joined in 2021. Through those experiences, Andrew has gained an extensive understanding of the commercial and regulatory aspects of the Barbados renewable energy market.

Prior to joining Blue Circle Energy, Andrew practiced law in Canada for 15 years as a corporate and commercial lawyer with a focus on renewable energy. As a partner in the Toronto office of DLA Piper, a large global law firm, he worked on several hundred megawatts of solar, wind, biomass and battery energy storage projects. He helped ensure that all of those projects were successful and in the public interest. He obtained both his law degree (2007) and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (1999) from Queen’s University in Canada.
