Mr. Andrew Lord hopes to contribute a broad and balanced perspective to BREA to help ensure that Barbados succeeds in its goals of transitioning to 100% renewables while democratizing the energy sector. He is currently part of the management team of Blue Circle Energy, which is a BREA member that is 100% focused on developing renewable energy projects in Barbados. He has also served as an active member of BREA’s Regulatory Committee since 2021. Through those experiences, Andrew has gained an extensive understanding of the commercial and regulatory aspects of the Barbados renewable energy market.

Prior to joining Blue Circle Energy, Andrew practiced law in Canada for 15 years as a corporate and commercial lawyer with a focus on renewable energy. As a partner in the Toronto office of DLA Piper, one of the largest global law firms, he worked on over 225 MW of solar projects and several storage projects. He helped ensure that all of those projects were successful and in the public interest. He obtained both his law degree (2007) and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (1999) from Queen’s University in Canada.
